Teresa Simão

Teresa Susana Bengala Simão (Portalegre, 1977) graduated in 1999 with a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures – Portuguese/German from the University of Coimbra and received a Post-graduation degree in Language, Portuguese Culture and Didactics from the University of Beira Interior in 2004. She holds a Master’s degree in Sciences of Language and Communication (2010) and a PhD in Linguistics (2015) from the University of Évora.
Since 1999, she has been teaching disciplines such as Portuguese language and culture or citizenship and employability in several basic and secondary schools of the Ministry of Education. Between 2001 and 2015, she also worked as instructor for language and communication and German language, among other subjects, at the Instituto de Emprego e Formação Profissional and in other training institutions.
She is presently a researcher on the intangible heritage of the Alentejo region, with focus on ethnology and dialectology. In this area of study her master thesis O Falar de Marvão – Pronúncia, Vocabulário, Alcunhas, Ditados e Provérbios Populares was published in 2011, and she co-authored the book Marvão à Mesa com a Tradição (2013).
